Apple cans AppleWorks

by James Bayliss on Aug 20, 2007 at 10:24 AM

AppleWorks Killed

AppleWorks had it last gleam of light killed with the new release of the new iMacs, iWork and iLife. The program, originally released in 1984, was essentially the original iWork application.

I actually remember using it back in the day on my G3 iMac running OS 9. But today, if you go to the AppleWorks webpage, you are re-directed to the iWork page. End of a good life for AppleWorks.

Skype 2.7 Mac beta released

by James Bayliss on Aug 19, 2007 at 02:03 PM

Skype Beta

For a while now, Skype for Windows has been far ahead then the version for Mac. Now, Skype has a released a new version with a couple of handy features that some of us may like. The most useful to me is the ability to add your whole address book into your Skype contacts, so you can easily send someone a text message or call them without having to look up their number (assuming you already have it in your address book).

The new version also features a volume slider on each call, so you can control the volume of just your call if necessary. The beta is available for download from Skype.com.

iWood Casing

Everyone saw a sneek peek of the iWood cases back in July, but they have finally arrived. Availible in Beech, Oak, Padouk, Cherry, and Walnut - these are just the most stylish cases availible for you sexy new iPhone.

The prices are a little steep, starting at $80 for the beech! All the rest are a hefty $95 US. But if you’re willing to shell out that cash you will get one stylish case, and unique (until everyone else copies you and buys one themselves). If you have a few bucks extra to spend, you can also pick up a wooden dock, to complete the look.

Welcome to the iWood family!
