  • Is Microsoft just skimming the Surface of multi-touch?

Microsoft is really good at dreaming about the future; their track record on delivering it is not quite so shining. Seen ubiquitous Tablet PCs? Anybody remember SPOT? Given this track record, it is virtually not impossible to pose the question: what impact, if any, will Microsoft’s Surface have on everyday computing?

by Josh Holat on May 18, 2009 at 10:16 PM

Apple, who seems to have a habit of creating news web ads that take over almost every ad spot on the New York Times homepage, is at it again with their “#1 In Customer Experience” ad. This ad shows how a recent survey reveals that Apple is #1 in customer… Continue Reading »

Apple responds to Laptop Hunter ads

by Josh Holat on May 13, 2009 at 10:36 PM

In the ongoing battle between Microsoft ads and Apple ads, Apple has played their latest cards: Customer Care, Elimination, and PC Choice Chat. Elimination is clearly a direct blow at Microsoft’s Laptop Hunter ads. In this ad, PC has numerous other PCs behind him and a woman is telling PC… Continue Reading »

New laptop hunter ad even more disgusting

by Josh Holat on May 1, 2009 at 09:43 PM

In my ongoing battle against the Microsoft Laptop Hunter ads, Microsoft has given me more reasons to complain with their latest ad. This time around it features a lady named Sheila who is looking for a computer for under $2,000 that will help her with her video editing. She ends… Continue Reading »

As with other Windows releases, it will come in several flavors: one for home users, one for businesses, etc. There’s also one intended for low-end… Continue Reading »

Apple PR responds to Microsoft laptop hunting ads

by Josh Holat on Apr 19, 2009 at 01:35 PM

By now, you’re probably well aware of what I think about the Microsoft laptop hunter ad campaign. The first one was decent, but the second was absolute trash. It’s nice to see that Microsoft is finally fighting back in the ad wars that Apple has initiated, but I think they… Continue Reading »

by Josh Holat on Apr 6, 2009 at 05:24 PM

Microsoft is at it again with another one of their new series of ads attacking Macs for their price, as well as other things. In their first ad with Lauren, she wandered into the “Mac Store” but didn’t end up buying anything because there was no computer for under $1,000.… Continue Reading »

by Aaron Kraus on Feb 25, 2009 at 01:08 PM

I have been using the Safari 4 beta for a little over 24 hours now on both Windows XP/Vista and OS X Tiger/Leopard.  Apart from the slight learning curve (where’d my Tab bar go?!), I have to say, I love the OS X version. The Windows side of things is,… Continue Reading »

Apple takes huge step forward in Windows app design, step back on the Mac

by Adam Fisher-Cox on Feb 24, 2009 at 10:39 PM

With Safari 4, Apple apparently got over its “let’s bring Mac OS X style windows into a Windows environment” mentality, and has done a really great job making Safari 4 fit in with the environment in which it is installed. Oddly enough, it seems as though they designed the new… Continue Reading »

Safari for Windows, not so good

by Anthony Parkinson on Feb 16, 2009 at 07:31 AM

I have been using Safari for Windows at work since it was released in 2007. I have tried to be patient with it, because I know Apple, except for iTunes, is not in the business of making applications for Windows. With the most recent release 3.2.1 in November of last… Continue Reading »

by Josh Holat on Feb 4, 2009 at 08:15 AM

Microsoft’s highly anticipated Windows 7 operating system fixes many of the problems in the tragedy that is Vista. However, when it comes to one thing, Microsoft still doesn’t understand what they are doing. It has been announced that the Windows 7 SKU (stock keeping unit) will offer six different varieties… Continue Reading »
