Macintosh/iPhone software update roundup - November 6, 2009
A game, a touch and a guide for the Mac, and everything else is iPhone tonight. Gravity Sling, Checkers, Ground Effect, 365 Puzzle Club, and The World’s Hardest Game highlight the fun side, while computer game legend Al Lowe highlights the funny side. You can also learn stuff and check out some sexy refs…which in my book means a ref actually calling a fair game for the Seahawks.

Another great week for freebies on the App Store. Lots of information, apps and games, which is good news if your weekend was going to be bland. Now it can be full of icons instead!

8GB iPhone 3G soon to gain an S?
Unconfirmed tips and pics seem to confirm that Rogers in Canada is draining their 8GB iPhone 3G stock to make way for the new 8GB iPhone 3GS.
Is RFID the next feature for iPhone 4?
Apple could already be testing next generation iPhones equipped with RFID (radio frequency identification) capabilities if a less than rock solid rumor is to be trusted (as if rumors could be solid in the first place). What exactly would you do with RFID in your iPhone? A host of things… Continue Reading »
Macintosh/iPhone software update roundup - November 5, 2009
Scan your comics and scan your receipts on the Mac. You can scan other things too, but there’s nothing else here to help you with that. On the iPhone, you’ve got audio short stories, balloons to send floating around the world, a Mysterious Island to explore, a Bible study to… Continue Reading »
Appletell reviews Scholastic vocabulary apps for iPhone, iPod touch
There’s no shortage of iPhone apps available to keep kids occupied while you wait for your bloomin’ onion to be served. There’s also no shortage of apps available to explain why you shouldn’t be eating a bloomin’ onion. In this review, though, we’ll focus on the kids, and take a… Continue Reading »
How Apple got to 100,000 apps, and why it won’t stop
You have a map for that, Verizon? Okay, well I see your map, and raise you an app. 100,000 apps, actually. Apple has announced that developers have created over 100,000 apps for the App Store (only a couple hundred of which have anything to do with farting). This is a… Continue Reading »
App Store now has more than 100,000 applications available
Apple’s iTunes App Store has reached a very important milestone: 100,000 available applications. In a marketplace where other companies are struggling to get 1,000 applications available for purchase and download, Apple and the developers with accounts have once again risen to the occasion. 100,000 certainly isn’t a small number, and… Continue Reading »
Macintosh/iPhone software update roundup - November 4, 2009
Already with the Christmas apps? Well, why not. Be creative enough, and even iStopMotion and MacTuneUp could be holiday gifts, I suppose. Pretty much everything on the iPhone could, such as Minima, The Right Bite (it’ll help you lose all that holiday treat weight), Cobra, DJ Nights, and more. iMEvil,… Continue Reading »
AT&T sues Verizon over “there’s a map for that” advertisements
Verizon first attacked Apple’s iPhone via an advertisement for the new Motorola Droid phone they will be selling this month. Then, they proceeded to attack the iPhone’s carrier, AT&T, with their “there’s a map for that” advertisements. While Apple didn’t take any sort of action against Verizon that we know… Continue Reading »
Macintosh/iPhone software update roundup - November 3, 2009
A lot of good Mac updates today for both productivity and system management. Record audio, make cartoons, browse your media, track your references, and more. Today’s iPhone apps will improve your grammar, bring you luck, win you an unlocked iPhone, defend your bar, crash your car, dash your zombies, and… Continue Reading »
An open letter to the Verizon “There’s a Map for That” ads
First, let me congratulate you on a fairly witty pun-based ad campaign. You’re making a point, and with quite a bit of gumption, given the lack of cool smartphones available on your larger-than-life network. Second, I’ll acknowledge our past relationship; nine good years with excellent coverage and several fairly decent… Continue Reading »
Macintosh/iPhone software update roundup - November 2, 2009
Today’s Mac updates involves geometry. Don’t be afraid, though, it’s here to make life easier, not harder. So is Custom Headers by M, RemObjects SDK, ReaddleDocs, RemoteSite, TypeBook Creator, and more. iPhone updates involve Hyakkiyagyo, which alone should be enough to get you to click inside, but there’s also Roto,… Continue Reading »
