As the day draws closer, Apple continues to make preparations for its Let’s Rock special event. Apple has now put up a banner on the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco where the event is to be held.

The banner is in typical Apple style with a dancing person’s silhouette on a colorful background, with an iPod of course.  This is clearly truth in advertising, I mean, I can’t not dance when I turn on my iPod. Who can resist? The technology just moves me!

My first iPod was a 30GB iPod Video. I wasn’t exactly careful with it, and it soon became heavily scratched. I also never got around to getting a case. Now that that iPod has come and gone, and I am on my second iPod, I made a pact to treat it well, and get a case early on. After getting my iPod nano 3G about a month ago, I got a little lax about the case and didn’t purchase one until now. After much personal debate, I went with the Digital Lifestyle Outfitters HipCase over the Speck Runner. There were a few reasons why I went with the former, ranging from better feel, and what hopefully will be better protection.

Line Rider is undoubtebly one of the most addictive flash games on the web. The popular game is set to come to the iPhone and iPod touch for the low price of $3—although some may argue that it should be free, seeing as it is free-to-play on the internet. The iPhone version of Line Rider will bring the ability of uploading and downlodaing tracks via the official Line Rider site. It will also benefit from the multi-touch interface for track creation and play; your tracks can be played out in a movie mode.

Seems like Microsoft is trying to duplicate a few of Apple’s defining strategies. First the funny(?) Seinfeld ads, and now, as part of a $300 million dollar marketing effort, Microsoft confirmed that they will be employing in-store representatives to act as Genius-like Microsoft know-it-alls, called Gurus. The company also plans to employ a good number of floor specialists (equivalent to Apple’s Personal Shoppers or Concierge) in a trial run at Circuit City and Best Buy.

For those of you who remember the events of the late ‘80s, have a sizable wallet, and have a thing for vintage Apple Computers, this is just the thing for you. My Old Mac has an article detailing the need for a buyer for the original artwork from the 1987 Swedish Mac SE ad campaign. The works were painted by Erik Saxen in the same year as the ads, and were done mostly in oil. The paintings feature many different artistic subjects, and all of them incorporate a Macintosh SE into some element of the painting.  The seller would prefer that the works remain together, but if that is not possible they will be sent to an auction house to the likes of Christies’ or Sotheby’s.

With the Apple Event scheduled for September 9th, there has been much hype surrounding the event. It is all but confirmed that there will be redesigned iPod nanos, possibly some new iPod touches, maybe a Mac or two, and perhaps a new version of iTunes. Now all this is fine and dandy, but there are some who don’t share my and many other’s optimism about the event. AAPL has continued to fall, despite the great possibility that something(s?) wonderful will be announced at the upcoming event.

At this point, we know an Apple product isn’t official until somebody takes a crappy, rushed picture of said product. The picture above clearly shows an orange iPod nano, meeting all the requisites we’ve seen in the last week. With all the hoopla around Kevin Rose’s iPod information leaking, we’ve all been lead to believe that Apple is indeed making a new iPod nano. Now, this picture of an elongated iPod nano all but proves that September 9th will be the day Apple makes Kevin look like the leading Apple pundit.

I’ll admit it, I got into Oasis late. After they fell out of favor with the British press and lost the American spotlight (undeservedly, I might add), I heard “Go Let it Out” and thought, “Hey, these guys just may catch on.” It’s not entirely my fault, though. I was living in New York City at the time, meaning the only thing I could hear on the radio was sports talk.

Regardless, I’m still a fan of the band, and I’m greatly looking forward to Dig Out Your Soul, their new album due out October 7th in the U.S. It’s good to know there are still rock bands out there who always look like they really want to beat you up...and could.

And it’s even better to know an A-list band such as Oasis is making use of Apple’s GarageBand. Dig out the details after the break.
