Proporta introduces Playback Pack for third gen iPod nano and iPod classic
Proporta has released a new product they are calling the Playback Pack. This case is made from strong polycarbonate plastic to help protect your iPod from everyday scratches and knocks. On top of this, it also allows access for all the ports and controls. However, what is more interesting about it is that it can double as a stand. Using the “iconic tape cassette case design,” your iPod can be propped up for easier viewing and use when you’re not on the go. The stand aspect looks a lot nicer than the case, in my opinion.
There are two versions of this case: one for third gen iPod nanos and one for the iPod classic. They each come in at $28.95, and include a pair of headphones as well as a free Stereo Y Splitter Cable. If you’re interested, you can head on over to the product pages linked below to find a gallery of images available for the products. It’s good to see that at least one company hasn’t forgotten about the iPod, and has made a product for them instead of the iPhone 3G.

USBFever announces iPhone FM Transmitter
If you’re looking for an all in one car charger/FM transmitter so you can easily use your iPhone or iPod Touch in your car, USBFever may have your solution. With a price tag of $39.99, this dock is perfect for your car. Not only will it transmit and play your iPod Touch or iPhone over FM frequencies, it can also connect to any other MP3 player with a 3.5mm audio jack. It comes with a remote for easier control of your Touch/iPhone, has an LCD backlight display, and charges any USB product with its USB port. It does all this by simply plugging into your cigarette lighter.
This product is also boasting that it has a 9 functions in one device. I bet you’re probably wondering what they are.
- FM transmitter
- USB charging port (for charging PDAs)
- PDA / iPhone / iPod Holder
- Remote
- LCD
- Charger for iPod and iPhone
- Timer (very simple, when power’s on)
- Line in input
- TDTT (Two Dimensional Tuning Technology)
This sounds like an awesome device to me. Hopefully it is able to somehow block the annoying audio interference that can result from the iPhone. If you happen to purchase one, let us know how it is.

iLuv ships combo DVD/iPod player, gives it boring name
iLuv, a company that specializes in “developing solutions and unique accessories for the Apple iPod and other MP3 players” has just released a new multimedia system that promises to bring all your media formats to one place.
The i1255 (couldn’t they have thought of something a little more creative?) is a 5.1 channel desktop DVD and iPod player that lets you play music and movies on your TV and includes an attractive “On-Screen-Display” that lets you navigate your iPod’s music and movies with ease. The actual player bears a striking resemblance to a Playstation 3.
iPod features of the i1255 include an integrated dock that lets you charge and play your ipod, full screen control/navigation of your iPod with the included remote control, and the ability to output your favorite iPod movies through s-video or AV outputs. iPods that are compatible are the iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod nano 3G and iPod with video.
The DVD feature of the i1255 gives you all of the features you would expect in a standard DVD player: DVD playback, VCD, MP3 and JPEG playback are included. The “On-Screen-Display” is also used with the DVD features to navigate MP3s, etc. stored on your DVDs.

JVC unveils dual iPod speaker
JVC officially has a fix for those needing to charge two iPods or iPhone at once but have only one free outlet: the NX-PN7. This speaker system features 15 watts of power, a clock, and an AM/FM Tuner. This is also JVC’s first product made specifically for the iPod or iPhone.
Switching between the devices is easy, and users can color code an LED strip to change to a specified color when their device is plugged in, preventing mix ups with similar iPods and iPhones. The built-in alarm clock can be set to wake you up to either the radio or one of the connected devices, making sure you wake up on time. The system will also save space, as it comes in at just under one foot in width. Also included are an output to TV and an Apple-esque remote.
The NX-PN7 is shipping now for $150 and is available on the JVC website.

Turn your iPod Into a digital recorder with Alesis ProTrack
Those who want a digital stereo voice recorder with Apple reliability and Alesis quality, this is for you. Last Friday, Alesis announced the new ProTrack iPod recording system.
With this tool, you can slip in your iPod (2G or 3G Nano, 5G Video, and iPod Classic are supported), and, using either an included AC power adapter or AAA batteries, record away. From the Alesis Press Release:

ProTrack’s smart design integrates the iPod into the recorder, with included sleds to securely mount supported iPod models to the recorder.
As you can see from the quote, the ProTrack is mainly aimed at musicians, but the accessory could be used for any other type of recording need. The attachment includes a universal iPod dock, integrated microphones, LED indicators, and knobs for power, limiter and volume. No word on the price as of yet, and this one can be expected sometime later this year.

Anybody want a Skateboard-shaped speaker for the iPod?
We know it may sound cool to some, but others may find this new accessory for the iPod simply ridiculous. The product we are talking about is a speaker system that fits most of the iPod models, designed by a not so well known company, Smart Technology. But what is peculiar about this product is its shape, which happens to be that of a skateboard.
Of course, we’re not saying this is an actual Skateboard which you can use to perform your best X-game moves while at the same time listening to your favorite rock songs. Sorry to disappoint you folks, but you can only use this Skateboard-shaped iPod speaker at home, hanging by your wall because it also doubles as a shelf. It holds 3” speakers and sports easy-mount French cleats and a built-in 30-pin dock which is compatible with most iPods.
Geared for the younger generation of iPod users, this Skateboard-shaped speaker/shelf is available in pink and brown and sells for $179.
