Three new iPhone 3G ads (or “Apple, get it together")

by Adam Fisher-Cox on Aug 24, 2008 at 03:21 PM

iPhone 3GThe crap parade continues down the street of Apple advertisements, as Apple releases three new iPhone 3G ads that suck even more than the first batch. They are all the same voice over: “This is how you enter the App Store. And this is how you browse over 1,000 new apps. And this is how you download one, right to your phone. And this is when you realize, this is going to change everything.” The difference between the three exists solely in the app they download; Cro Mag Rally in one, Vicinity in another, and Lonely Planet English to Mandarin Phrasebook.

Details and links after the break.

New Get A Mac ads, updated Get A Mac site

by Adam Fisher-Cox on Aug 19, 2008 at 07:00 AM

Get A MacApple has released three new Get A Mac ads into the wild, along with a slight redesign of its Get A Mac website.

In “Pizza Box,” PC notes that Mac is the number one selling brand on college campuses, and so, to combat, he tries to lure college students in with the promise of free pizza.

In “Throne,” PC reminds Mac that he is king of the OS world, and so banishes Mac from his land.

In “Calming Teas,” PC decides that instead of fixing problems with Windows, what Vista users need are teas to calm their anger at Vista’s flaws.

These ads, aimed at the back-to-school market, are some of the better ones of the campaign.

Three new iPhone 3G ads

by Josh Holat on Jul 24, 2008 at 12:30 PM

iPhone 3GApple is at it again with three new iPhone 3G ads. This time around, they are much more like the original iPhone ads and less like the first iPhone 3G ad. Two of the three ads, Everyone and Unslow, really push (pardon the pun) the idea of 3G and how it is twice as fast as the original iPhone’s EDGE network speeds. The third commercial is called Work Friendly and talks about the iPhone’s ability to “push” calendars, e-mail, and work contacts to the cloud almost instantly.

Check them out after the break.

Get A Mac: guy who plays a PC is a real life Mac user

by Opal Tribble on Jun 11, 2008 at 05:50 PM

Get a Mac - John HodgmanWell, well, what do you know? Don’t tell me the guy who plays a PC actually uses a Mac in real life? Say it isn’t so! Yes, it’s true, John Hodgman has been outed. He recently came clean about his devotion to Apple. The New York Daily News caught up with him at the Johnny Walker Blue bottle engraving party and John had this to say, “I play a PC only on television. I’ve used Macs since 1984.” When I was a kid, I talked my dad into getting the very first Mac and I’ve been loyal to the brand ever since.”

I definitely enjoy my Mac, too, but for some reason I never saw John as a Mac guy, perhaps because of the character he plays in the commercials. How silly of me.

Apple has been receiving a lot of attention lately, which isn’t surprising; it is an innovative company that provides excellent products. Read past the break if you’re curious to see what has been causing businesses to focus attention on Apple.

New commercial for 3G iPhone

by Josh Holat on Jun 10, 2008 at 04:24 PM

3G iPhone Ad
Among some of the smaller announcements at yesterday’s WWDC event was a new iPhone commercial called “Hallway” that highlights the 3G iPhone. This commercial is very different from the iPhone ads you are used to that feature just the iPhone and perfectly formed hand. This ad consists of two men holding a highly guarded case and walking into some sort of vault with it. When the men are in the secure room, they open the case and the iPhone quietly pops out. It’s pretty slick. It is available from Apple here, or you can watch the YouTube embedded video after the jump.

Sprint attacks iPhone with their Instinct

by Josh Holat on Jun 7, 2008 at 09:01 PM

Samsung Instinct
Samsung and Sprint want to start a war; a war I don’t think they can win. In this recent video from Sprint and Samsung, they are pointing out the Instinct’s dominance over the iPhone when it comes to taking videos. However, if some rumors are true, this commercial won’t be true for long as the iPhone will soon have video conferencing. Check out the video after the break.

Rumor: Apple casting call for new product TV ad?

by Patrick Lutz on Jun 7, 2008 at 04:50 PM

3G iPhone TV ad
According to an unverified source, Apple has just sent out the following casting call through a major talent agency this week in search for actors to do an advertisement for a new Apple product. The casting call is as follows:

Apple is looking for a man and woman in their mid-20s to film a demo of a new Apple product. They are not looking for recognizable faces or names, and ideally the person would be “average to mildly attractive with nice hands.” They must also have the ability to play the guitar or piano at an intermediate level.

The shoot will take place in Hollywood sometime in the next 6 to 8 weeks. Please let me know if you have any clients interested in this unique opportunity.

Again, Apple is not interested in recognizable talent. The focus will be on the new product and not the person.

A hint of what this new ad may be for is the fact that Apple has recently shut down their 5th Avenue store to shoot a television ad for what is believed to be the 3G iPhone. Although these rumors cannot be confirmed, it is certain that Apple is about to release a new product, most likely during the upcoming WWDC.
