New MacBooks to have Nvidia Nside
If TUAW’s sources are to be believed then the upcoming MacBook’s coming from Apple may just have Nvidia graphic chips in them.
More after the break…
And the “Brick” is…a manufacturing process?!
9to5Mac has been teasing for about a year in internet time about the rumored “Brick” codename, and today they came out and told us what it is...a manufacturing process. Now, if you are like me, you’re pretty crazy disappointed, but read on. This manufacturing process is pretty darn cool.
SEC investigating Steve Jobs heart attack story as stock manipulation
Late last week, a false report that Steve Jobs had been rushed to the hospital following a heart attack sent lemming investors to sell AAPL, driving the stock price down to $97.07, its lowest since before the original iPhone release.
Now the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) is looking into the report as intentional stock manipulation.CNN will likely not be a target of the investigation, as the iReport site that the story was posted on is labeled as unfiltered and potentially inaccurate. CNN did remove both the story and the poster’s account shortly after it was brought to their attention, but not before it was posted to Digg and gained large traction on the internet, causing the panic.
Stocks rose back to above $100 after Apple denied the claim, but fell again, ending the day at a new 52-week low.
All I can say is buy, buy, buy.

VoIP comes to iPhone
Apple has finally allowed a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) program to be made available for the iPhone. Fring is available now at the iTunes store for free, and allows users to make voice communications over a wireless network using Fring’s network, or “Skype, Skype-out or any SIP providers you chose.” Users can also place calls to phone numbers using the service.
Fring also claims:
You will have one searchable contact list with all your instant messaging buddies from Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM, so you can easily see whose available and where they can be reached before dialing or starting a live chat session.
The Fring user guide is also available as a PDF.

CNN eagerly laps up fake story; Steve Jobs still not harmed
I have lost all faith in the media and in the sanity of stockholders today, after a citizen report on CNN’s iReport website claimed an anonymous source said that Steve Jobs had been hospitalized following a heart attack. And then, based upon that, AAPL fell as much as 5.4% to $94.65, its lowest in quite a long while, before recovering.
That’s right. Because of a citizen’s report, which anyone can make, on CNN’s iReport site, which said that an anonymous source knew about this, people panicked and sold their stock in what is possibly one of the most stable companies out there right now. For Pete’s sake, iReport’s slogan is “Unedited. Unfiltered. News.” complete with inexplicable periods between words.
Apple denied the report in an interview, but not before seeing AAPL stock drop to $94.65. After the announcement, stock rebounded to a still low $103.92.

Macintosh/iPhone software update round-up - October 3, 2008
Macintosh and iPhone software updates and announcements for October 3, 2008:
- Note2Self has been updated to make sending notes to yourself almost as easy just remembering things.
- Ozone 4 is not an atmospheric safety level reading, it’s an update to iZotope’s software mastering suite. Which is good, because 4 doesn’t sound like a good level for the ozone to be at.
- A game in which a flight attendant helps to bring bankrupt airline back to the top of airline industry? Sounds to me like either a feel-good Disney comedy or late night cable smut. I’m guessing, though, it’ll be neither.
Crisis averted: music royalties stay the same!
FROM GADGETELL - A few days ago, our friends over at Appletell reported on a possible increase in royalty rates that could spell out a problem for iTunes, and possibly other digital music stores. A meeting took place on Thursday, and royalties were set on digital downloads and ringtones for the first time… MORE »
