Appletell review - The Movies: Stunts and Effects
With the release of The Movies: Stunts and Effects, your virtual films can now be even cooler...well, provided you feel that stunts and effects are cool to begin with. The romantic comedy types may not need this, but those who share my belief that every single movie ever made could’ve been enhanced with a prolonged sword fighting skeleton scene (especially all those Jennifer Lopez movies that weren’t called The Cell) will find plenty to enjoy here.
Well, plenty to enjoy outside of sword fighting skeletons, anyway, which aren’t included. Maybe they should get an expansion pack of their own?
Jump past the break to find out what is included in this expansion pack for Feral Interactive’s acclaimed sim game: The Movies
Macintosh/iPhone software update round-up - August 21, 2008
Macintosh and iPhone software updates and announcements for August 21, 2008:
- The documentary “10 Yards: Fantasy Football” is free on iTunes for two weeks. After that, you’ll need to trade Stephen Jackson to get it.
- You can never have too many options for multi-thousand dollar diamond encrusted iPhones.
- MacJournal 5.1 is MobileMe ready. Too bad MobileMe isn’t MobileMe ready, huh.
- View Windows, Mac and Linux files on your iPhone or iPod touch with ReaddleDocs. Then hate yourself for becoming that guy who doesn’t work at the office.

Create your own iPhone flashlight (without apps)
Since the opening of the App Store, we have seen numerous apps to turn the iPhone into quite possibly the most expensive flashlight you own and carry around in your pocket.
But there’s one fatal flaw in all of this for me; the lack of simplicity. Generally, when I need my iPhone to function as a flashlight, I need it now. I don’t want to unlock my phone, get out of the app I’m already in, swipe through my pages, and then finally launch that torch program that’s hiding inside. It takes too long.
I’ve got a solution. It is not the most elegant solution, and you might lose a little of the customization we iPhone users have become used to, but, it works, and it works fast. You don’t even have to unlock your phone.
Find out how after the jump.
Apple demands the best for the iPhone, picture proof!
Not only is the iPhone beautiful, it appears that everything that touches the iPhone must be beautiful as well. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a wee bit, but Gizmodo has posted some interesting pics found on a recently purchased iPhone.
It happens from time to time; pictures appearing on brand new iPhones, that is. It seems workers in some iPhone production factories just can’t help but share their cute faces with a select lucky few future iPhone owners.
Did you get bonus photos with your iPhone? Let us know after the break.
Current iPod line being phased out for September announcement
Target, Argos in the UK, and many more iPod supply stores are saying that the current iPod line is marked “discontinued” in preparation for new models with a potential September Apple event.
According to Apple Insider, Argos recieved displays promoting price cuts, including a huge wall poster. It is a bit unclear whether this means cuts on existing inventory, or cheaper, newer iPod lines.
Will your favorite iPod line be updated? Possibilities after the break.
Took a while: Apple sued over iPhone 3G issues
One Jessica Smith of Birmingham has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, alleging that Apple misled customers regarding iPhone 3G speeds.
The ten page lawsuit alleges that Apple has breached express warranty by promising internet “twice as fast” and not delivering because of connectivity problems that make speed impossible to attain. The “Defective iPhone 3G,” as it is always called in the lawsuit, would connect less than a quarter of the time in “excellent” coverage areas.

There are probably too many racing games already made for the iPhone, but that isn’t stopping Firemint from developing a game named “Real Racing.”
Real Racing is exactly what it sounds like. It’s an accelerometer controlled car racing game that looks fantastic.
