Create your own iPhone flashlight (without apps)

by Jake Gaecke on Aug 21, 2008 at 01:05 PM

iPhone Torch Flashlight backgroundSince the opening of the App Store, we have seen numerous apps to turn the iPhone into quite possibly the most expensive flashlight you own and carry around in your pocket.

But there’s one fatal flaw in all of this for me; the lack of simplicity. Generally, when I need my iPhone to function as a flashlight, I need it now. I don’t want to unlock my phone, get out of the app I’m already in, swipe through my pages, and then finally launch that torch program that’s hiding inside. It takes too long.

I’ve got a solution. It is not the most elegant solution, and you might lose a little of the customization we iPhone users have become used to, but, it works, and it works fast. You don’t even have to unlock your phone.

Find out how after the jump.

Apple demands the best for the iPhone, picture proof!

by Jake Gaecke on Aug 21, 2008 at 10:30 AM

iPhone Factory WorkerNot only is the iPhone beautiful, it appears that everything that touches the iPhone must be beautiful as well. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a wee bit, but Gizmodo has posted some interesting pics found on a recently purchased iPhone.

It happens from time to time; pictures appearing on brand new iPhones, that is. It seems workers in some iPhone production factories just can’t help but share their cute faces with a select lucky few future iPhone owners.

Did you get bonus photos with your iPhone? Let us know after the break.

Took a while: Apple sued over iPhone 3G issues

by Adam Fisher-Cox on Aug 21, 2008 at 08:19 AM

LawsuitOne Jessica Smith of Birmingham has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, alleging that Apple misled customers regarding iPhone 3G speeds.

The ten page lawsuit alleges that Apple has breached express warranty by promising internet “twice as fast” and not delivering because of connectivity problems that make speed impossible to attain. The “Defective iPhone 3G,” as it is always called in the lawsuit, would connect less than a quarter of the time in “excellent” coverage areas.

There are seven plans in all, with prices ranging from $26 to $205 per month. The cheapest plan, the iOne Plus, costs $26 per month, and the actual device will set you back $700 and $850 for 8GB and 16GB, respectively.
