Apple launches new iPhone Your Life site

Apple seems to love touting the fact that there are so many useful applications for the iPhone. Now, Apple is bringing that same attitude to a new website they have created called iPhone Your Life. Calling the iPhone “a way of life,“ this website collects the iPhone apps into various groups, selects an app of the week (which happens to be Air Sharing this week), and also provides some tips and tricks. First impressions are key, and this site definitely looks like one I will keep coming back to. It’s well organized and full of useful and interesting information.
It’s great to see this type of stuff for Apple. Not only does it help them to help their customers, it also shows the outstanding support they have for their third party developers who are spending time and money developing for the iPhone. By creating sites like this, Apple is helping to give those developers more customers, which, in turn, drives even more development of their apps, and, eventually, new apps. Not only that, but it brings Apple money when iPhone users purchase third party apps, which I’m sure is another motive behind this site.
Be sure to check it out; it’s well worth your time.

Apple rated #1 in customer satisfaction in recent survey
A recent survey put out by VocaLabs reveals that Apple is at the top in customer satisfaction for computer companies. 60% of Apple owners surveyed said they were “very satisfied,“ compared to 44% of Dell owners and 37% of Gateway owners.
Apple was able to walk away with a 52% over all rating, while Dell had a 45% rating and Gateway had a 39% rating.
I think that while we have all occasionally had issues with Apple’s customer service, this survey shows and confirms that Apple is still the leader in customer satisfaction.
Good work Apple. And to all others, you now know who to follow.

Obama is a Mac user
![]()
Whether you like him, hate him, or are indifferent, Barack Obama, uses a Mac. That has to say something about our President elect. In no way should this have weight on whether to vote for someone, but it is kind of cool. He does use a Research in Motion Backberry as a mobile device, but still…
We all know Obama is going to be a younger President. Maybe a little inexperienced. Maybe a little “green.“ The fact that he uses Macs also tells me that he is tech savvy, something we could not have said about Presidential candidate John McCain, who stated at one point that he did not know how to send an e-mail. I spent four years of my life defending the United States of America, and I feel slightly better knowing the Mac will be used, even if it’s sparsely, in Washington.
How do you feel about it?

Apple and a gaming console?
Most of us know that Apple has a fantastic core of animation. Most of us know that Apple uses top of the line hardware in all of their devices. Most of us know that the current generation of gaming consoles are 90% computer. It only makes sense that major manufacturers of both marry the two into a gaming console. Microsoft has done it. Sony has done it. Why not Apple?
The current generation of gaming consoles are basically computer hardware and proprietary operating systems, with the graphics accelerator being the most important piece of the puzzle. ATI Technologies makes the graphics chips for the Xbox 360. NVIDIA makes the graphics chips for the Playstation 3. Apple uses graphics chips from both manufacturers in both the iMac and Macbook lines of computers, so we know Apple already has contracts with both and could easily choose one to put into a gaming console.
Many of us would agree that OS X is the best operating system on the planet. Apple has modified it for other platforms with great results; the iPhone demonstrates that. I think a stripped down, barebones version for a gaming console would be more stable and have more features than anything that is available on the market today. Where the problem might come is trying to find developers for games that would have to either write new code or port existing code for a new platform. Still, it has been done before…
I know I am wishing here, but I would snatch one up in heart beat if they made one. iPlay anyone?

How much do you love Apple?

Since you’re reading an article on an Apple news website, I think it’s safe to say that you at least like Apple. You might even love them. I know I do. Some people just express that love in more creative ways than others. Take, for example, this guy who took his love for Apple and expressed it through the art of blushing apples.

What is it like to work for Apple?
I have never worked for Apple. I, however, am curious as to what it might be like to work for the company. So I did some research using some simple meansthe internet, of course (we can believe everything we read on the internet right?), a telephone, and some word of mouth. This is what I found…
Apple 24” LED Display not shipping as expected?
I recently wrote an article regarding my first impressions on the new Apple 24” LED Display. After writing the article, my representative at Apple gave me a call to let me know Apple had updated the ship date to “7-10 business days.“ I had asked him to give me a call about this as I plan to purchase one for myself.
Something strange happened, though. Between the time when he left me the message and when I went online to order the display, the page switched back to displaying “Ships: November.“ I quickly called the representative to see if he had any clue what happened.
After a long discussion, I came to the conclusion that Apple made a mistake and must not be shipping the display in 7 to 10 business days, but rather by the end of November. He also informed me, as MacRumors reported on Wednesday, Apple has “end-of-lifed” the 23” Cinema.
While this might not sound like such big news, I believe it is. Apple recently delayed the shipments of the new MacBook Air, and there have been no signs of when the new Apple In-Ear headphones will ship, either. It appears Apple’s shipping dates have overall not been so reliable recently, and I think it might be time for an explanation on Apple’s end.

Apple to open their 250th store this Friday
Apple is opening yet another Apple store this week, but this one is somewhat special. The Vintage Faire Apple Store that is to be opened in Modesto, California, this Friday, November 14th, will be the 250th Apple Store. This store is not only going to be finished just in time for the holidays to make the commute to the nearest Apple Store easier on customers, it also shows just how well Apple is doing lately. With 250 brick and mortar stores, Apple has made a significant footprint across the globe with their beautifully designed stores. This obviously helps drive their product sales a great deal, as well as offers great support.
This will be the 46th grand opening of an Apple retail store this year, which isn’t a small number for one year. Be sure to head over there if you are in the area to receive your complimentary T-shirt, which we’re sure they will be handing out. Also, this location provides another area where you can get your holiday season shopping done for that special someone in your life who loves Apple.

iPhone tethering plan to include 5GB cap, cost $30+?
According to sources from the MacBlogz site, we now have some more detailed information about the iPhone tethering plan on which AT&T said they were working. The first of these details is the 5GB bandwidth cap. The rumor says this cap may be introduced to all AT&T tethering plans to accommodate for all the new plans they are expecting, and adds that AT&T will cut off your tethering plan for that month once the cap is reached. It also states the connection for this tethering might be through Apple’s own iTunes, so you won’t need to install any additional software on the desktop side of things.
The rumor has “no idea on a launch date,“ but believes AT&T will roll out new plans for the iPhone that include tethering for additional $30 or so a month. It also states there will be no unlimited option, as AT&T will simply tell you to buy a wireless PC card. Nonetheless, this is a very interesting rumor. My only request would be a lesser monthly charge, as the iPhone plans are pretty expensive here in the US already. Now, only one question remains’ will it be coming out with the iPhone 2.2 Software?

New online Get a Mac ad features Apple’s high customer service rating
Apple, Inc. is a content producing machine, lately, with plenty of new ads for the iPhone, and now a new online ad for their Get a Mac campaign. This ad, which can currently be seen on the New York Times website as well as other major websites, is called “Mac Customer Satisfaction” and features the usual two suspects, Justin Long and John Hodgeman. This time around, PC tries to correct a “mistake” that seems to be made when it comes to Mac’s customer satisfaction ratings. However, it ends with a nice surprise.
